Summer Support & Translation Specialist
Cultivating Community is hiring for a Summer Support & Translation specialist for our high school intern program, Youth Growers.
Our Youth Growers program is a summer internship opportunity for 50 Portland Public Schools high school students. We host two groups of 24 students who get to spend 4 to 5 weeks with the Youth Program staff to learn about local food systems, gardening, cooking, and much more. We focus on centering these activities around hands-on experiential learning opportunities with a community, place-based centered focus.
We are searching for someone to support our program manager and specialist out in the garden and kitchen this summer! This individual will be in charge of the care for the youth participants’ safety and well-being and leading games and activities, while also generating meaningful conversations. We are seeking someone who is timely, reliable, responsible, and has an interest in food and local agriculture systems. Proficiency in Portuguese and/or French is required. Must be 18 years or older to apply.
Schedule & Compensation
$23 per hour
1st session: June 24th – July 18th
2nd session: July 29th – August 22nd
Monday through Thursday, 5 hours each day
20 hours per week, plus a 6 hour orientation
