Hurricane Valley Farm, a 62-acre working farm owned and leased to us by @falmouthlandtrust got an upgrade in the form of a solar array! Funding for this project came from the State of Maine’s Community Resilience Partnership, which “helps communities in Maine plan for climate change, reduce carbon emissions, transition to clean energy, and increase their resilience to the effects of climate change.” This funding was secured by a collaborative effort between FLT, Cultivating Community, and the Town of Falmouth.

Along with the ground-mount array, the farmhouse will also be solarized. These upgrades will reduce the use of fossil fuels at the farm and provide clean power for the greenhouse fans, produce wash & prep area, and the cold storage unit utilized by New Mainer farmers who grow various crops year round.
