Our work is highly collaborative. We couldn’t do it without the dozens of funders and project partners who support and enrich what we do.
Our anti-hunger work is currently being supported by generous grants from the USDA Community Food Projects Program, the Cumberland County Emergency Food and Shelter Program, the Redmond Family Foundation, and Share Our Strength. Our youth and education programs are supported by the City of Portland Community Development Block Grant Program, the Davis Conservation Foundation, the Horizon Foundation, the Sam L. Cohen Foundation, the Harry Chapin Foundation, the William and Joan Alfond Foundation, the Hudson Foundation, and the Jane B. Cook 1992 Charitable Trust. Our Earth Steward Garden Initiative, which helps teachers connect garden-based activities to the Maine Learning Results, was funded by an Environmental Education Grant from the US Environmental Protection Agency, and our work to provide guidance for greening affordable housing developments-including on-site food production-was funded by an EPA Region 1 Healthy Communities Grant. Multiple projects are or have been supported by grants from the Maine Community Foundation.
In past years we have been the grateful beneficiaries of bequests from, among others, the Edward H. Daveis Benevolent Fund, the Harvest Fund of Maine Initiatives, the Leonard C. and Mildred F. Ferguson Foundation, Lincoln Financial Group, Patagonia, Youthink, the Maine Nutrition Network, the Raymond J. Wean Foundation, the Portland Housing Authority, the United Way of Greater Portland Special Response Fund, the Frances Hollis Brain Foundation, Tom's of Maine, the Juvenile Justice Advisory Group, Wild Oats, the Food Project Youth Council/BLAST Initiative, the Nine Wicket Foundation, and hundreds of individuals.
Flatbread Company and O'Naturals are our restaurant partners for Compost Corps.
We receive significant in-kind support from the Cumberland County Training Resource Center, Communities Promoting Health/PROP, the University of Southern Maine Environmental Science and Policy Program, and the City of Portland.
