Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is an alliance between farmers and eaters. People who join a CSA receive a share of fresh local produce every week during the growing season. In return, they agree in advance to support the grower with money and/or labor. This provides a guaranteed income for farmers as well as high quality food for consumers. The partnership helps strengthen the local food system, fosters new relationships, and encourages healthy farming practices.

2008 CSA

In 2008, the Cultivating Community CSA will be limited to our ElderShare program. ElderShares are designed to meet a single person's produce needs from approximately the beginning of July to the middle of October. We can offer 20 of these shares on a first come/first served basis to income eligible individuals in Portland over the age of 65 living in Franklin Towers, the North School Apartments, or in the Kennedy Park/East Bayside neighborhood. These shares are pre-bagged and delivered directly to shareholders' homes. Eligible seniors or their families are encouraged to contact us and learn more. There is no cost for this program nor any volunteer requirement.

We regret that we are not offering a family CSA option for 2008.
